its a very nice skill for all the iw people
me/w
skills
illusion of weakness
imagined burden
illusionary weaponry {e}
disiplined stance (sp?)
distortion
flurry
healing sig
rez sig
before battle cast illusion of weakness
when battle is about to engage cast illusionary weaponry
run in cast imagined burden on target enemy
hit flurry when your each the enemy
start swinging away (flurry does not decrease the power of illusionary weaponry)
when health dips low, illusion of weakness triggers, giving you a huge health boost, for other healing use h eal sig
use distortion for blocking attacks
illusionary weaponry is a great skill for doing damage very fast, with 16 illusion magic you do 42 damage per swing of your sword. since mesmers are tar

This skill ignores armor, and since it does chaos damage the opponent cant block/evade your attacks, and along with tigers fury/flurry/frenzy you can do more DPS than most warriors.
EDIT: Damn you Imaginary Friend *waves fist*

You deal armour ignoring damage every time you swing your sword.
You are blind? You still hit.
They are using a 75% evade stance? You still hit 100%.
You are using a 1-3 earth damage, req 13 sword? You still deal 34 damage every swing, even with 0 in sword mastery, or you dont even need to have a warrior profession.
And it makes you smell nicer too.

distortion is a stance if im not mistaken
and you usually cast illusion of weakness before iw.... so it wont cover it... iw will cover illusion of weakness ... sympathetic visage ftw.. it destroys warriors and if you are getting hit by warriors just walk next to a monk and the monk will lose 3 energy every time you are hit

Frankly, IW will kick an unsuspecting player's ass. I remember the first time I came up against it was when I was first starting to do Random Arena, as a R/W. I ran up to two mesmers, both of whom had IW up, thinking I was some sort of badass with my Whirling Defense. They cut me to ribbons in seconds, and I had no idea what hit me. Ah, the folly of youth...
Now I know to beware of Mesmers bearing swords, and if I see a little yellow arrow I Rend or Strip or Drain or don't go anywhere near them.
And Imaginary Friend is right - it's a very easy cap just south of Camp Rankor, one of the easiest caps in the game.

Yeah... only problem now is that I just don't have enough attribute points to allocate so I can use illusiions. Basically, my necro abilities are trumping my mesmer 90% of the time. Primarily b/c I have runes boosting necro abilities, so it cost less to raise necro abilities higher. And, I can max out over 15 on Death (major Death rune). When used correctly, Major Runes aren't that bad on your health.
Either way... Inspirtation's Physical Resistance has been my main Me skill. A lot of parties have wanted MM"s, so I end up not being able to use my Me Skills that often except to save my own skin.

I first faced it in Yak's Bend arena lol.
IW mesmers are a VERY popular twickie choice.
I was on my Warrior/necro.
he runs up and I see "-[whatever] (Illusionary Weaponry)", and I...
Hit Rend Enchantment...
Him = dead in about 10 seconds FTW!

For 30 seconds, you deal no damage in melee, but whenever you attack in melee, target foe takes 8-34 damage.

gotta ask (although, it's prob been covered allready)...
Just a little off kilter the way they describe it, but if my understanding is correct, your melee for 30 sec will do 8-34 damage? Haven't had a chance to use it and I've been considering how best to do so.
N E Rate... thanks

It means, in simple terms, that when you hit with a Sword, Axe, or Hammer, that attack will do 0 dmg. Then the opponent will take [whatever] dmg from IW. It doesnt actually make the attack do [whatever] dmg.
So for all proposes and game logic, they were damaged by your enchantment, NOT your attack. When you attack them, they'll see this above their heads:
-[whatever] (Illusionary Weaponry).

a truly good illusionary build is the deathknell to casters...with imagined burdon, iw, tigers fury, archane echo and blackout, it ensures you have about 15-20 secconds of a fast, 40 dmg attack while ene enemy caster cant fire off a single spell to counter you...its great.
(note, while stances are usless against IW, riposite/deadly riposite still work perfectly).
